Chloride Content Testing

Voss Labs performs chloride testing per ASTM C1218, ASTM C1152, and AASHTO T260.

ASTM C42: Compressive Strength Testing

Compressive strength testing is performed per ASTM C42. Concrete cores are trimmed and capped prior to testing.

Depth of Carbonation Testing

Depth of carbonation is determined by an application of Deep Purple pH indicator on a freshly cut cross section of the concrete cores.

ASTM C1202: Chloride Permeability Testing

Chloride resistivity testing often refered to as chloride permeability testing is performed per ASTM C1202.

ASTM C469: Modulus of Elasticity and Poisson's Ratio Testing

Modulus of elasticity is measured per ASTM C469. Cores or cylinders are fixed in a compressometer outfitted with LVDTs. The sample is then loaded in compression at a uniform rate to 40% of the ultimate load.

pH Testing

pH testing is performed by pulverizing sections of a concrete core to pass a No. 20 sieve. The powder samples are wetted to create a slurry. pH of the slurry is measured by a spot probe manufactured by Hanna Instruments.

Tensile Strength of Epoxies, Grouts, and Overlays

Voss Labs can perform a variety of tensile tests to evaluate bond strengths of epoxies, tensile strength of cementious materials, and speciality materials.

ASTM C642: Density, Absorption, and Void Testing of Concrete

ASTM C642 is performed to determine material properties of concrete. These values are determined from a series of drying and weighing measurements.

ASTM C497: Standard Test Methods for Concrete Pipe

ASTM C497 is performed to evaluate a range of material properties of concrete pipes. Tests include crushing strength, core strength, absorption, and several others.
