Visual Inspection

The intent of a visual inspection is to document all notable aspects of the structure in question. These may consist of cracking, surface scaling, spalling, or even discoloration of the concrete itself. The results from the visual inspection dictate the next steps of the assessment. Which non-destructive test methods make sense for the deterioration mechanisms at hand? Do we need to extract cores for laboratory testing? Most importantly - clear documentation of the visual inspection helps communicate potential issues with engineers, owners, and repair contractors.
