Penstock Saddleblock Inspections

​Voss labs engineers traversed over a mile of penstock runs—some accessed by rope—which support 7 different hydroelectric powerhouses.

 

Voss labs engineers assessed the condition of hundreds of concrete saddle blocks, anchor blocks, and tunnels. A unique classification system based on the severity of degradation was developed for this project to identify the concrete structural components risk category as well as future repair and monitoring needs.
