LABORATORIES
Pump Station Assessment
Voss Labs was contacted to help assess areas of cracking and spalling at a large pump station. VL engineers performed an extensive delamination survey and extracted concrete cores for laboratory testing.
It was determined that chlorides had been cast into the original mix of the intermediate deck slab and had subsequently migrated into the surrounding columns and walls. Delaminations, spalling, and corrosion of reinforcing steel was widespread throughout the intermediate level.

Voss Labs supported the repair process by performing tensile pull off testing of prepared substrate and completed repair areas. This was especially beneficial at the beginning of construction to ensure the surface preparation methods were effective at promoting a good bonding surface.
